Over ten years in animated feature films. He runs the Thursday surfacing session of the Lighting program.
Before light comes matter: the textures and shaders that make a set believable under any lighting. That is Florian’s craft. Trained at the Institut des Arts de Diffusion (IAD), he joined nWave Digital, an animated feature studio in Brussels, in 2014 as a set surfacing artist. Since 2016 he has been a set surfacing artist and TD there: he handles the shading and texturing of sets, and develops pipeline tools to meet production needs (Maya, Python, Qt).
He has worked on The Wild Life, The Son of Bigfoot, The Queen’s Corgi, Bigfoot Family, Chickenhare and the Hamster of Darkness, The Inseparables, Chickenhare and the Secret of the Groundhog and Yugly, released in theaters in 2026.
Working with Florian means learning to build surfaces that hold up under light, with the methods and constraints of a real studio.
