After the body, the face. Facial Acting is the stage where your character starts speaking and expressing emotions through the eyes, expressions and lip movement. It is one of the most sought-after skills in studios, because it is what makes a character truly inhabited and believable on screen. A good facial acting shot in a demo reel often makes the difference with a recruiter.
For twelve weeks, you are individually mentored by professional feature-film animators. You learn to draw a face accurately, synchronize speech and emotion, and stage a dialogue between several characters. Each exercise is designed as a genuine demo reel piece.
Module goal
Animate a character’s emotions and speech through the face, from your first acting shot to a complete staged dialogue between several characters.
*To guarantee quality individual follow-up, our classes are limited to 6 students and seats are reserved in priority for full-year programs. When a class is not full, we open the modules individually, on demand.
What you will cover
Two exercises
1. « Your first acting shot »
Discovering performance through the face. You learn to pick an interesting line of dialogue, understand the anatomical mechanics of a face, animate a lipsync and express an accurate emotion.
2. « Dialogue »
Staging an exchange between several characters. You learn to animate an interaction, work with two cameras in shot/reverse shot, handle the constraints of chest-up framing and produce a dynamic edit of your shot.
