This 8-week module builds a complete, professional locomotion system based on motion capture.
You discover the mocap pipeline (acquisition, retargeting, cleanup, characterization) then produce the full set of locomotion animations: directional starts in walk and run, stops, turns, in-place orientations, banking and a full jump integrated into the system. Everything is integrated and tested in Unreal Engine for smooth, responsive omnidirectional locomotion.
What you will cover
A believable character is recognized first by the way it moves. This module has you build a complete locomotion system, on par with AAA productions, while introducing you to the motion capture pipeline as used in studios.
The main topics covered:
- The mocap pipeline: acquiring, retargeting, cleaning then characterizing a capture to turn it into an animation with style.
- Directional movement: starts, stops, turns and orientations that make navigation fluid in every direction.
- Speed nuances: consistency between walk and run, up to body banking in turns.
- The assembly: moving jump and integration of the whole system in Unreal Engine for responsive locomotion.
What you will get
An experience close to a real feature-film production.
Live sessions with a working mentor, in small groups.
Shots tailored to what recruiters expect.
A certificate of completion for professional training.
Guided by a feature-film professional
